about

Drunken Wag’ner / Over the Moor to Maggie / Ríl Cáit de Henebre.

Danny: An old-time American tune with a strong Irish accent, learned from an archival recording of Missouri fiddler Bob Walters, which we found via CPN of the Californian folkpunk band Blackbird Raum. Then a version of Over the Moor to Maggie based loosely on the Rainey brothers’ classic 1956 fiddle duo recording, and, to finish, a tune from the great early 20th century music collector, linguist & eccentric Richard Henry.

Conor: The first tune reminds me some old Donegal tunes in the way it changes key. I was introduced to old-time fiddling by Danny's family and always really enjoy playing these tunes. Danny taught me the last two tunes and I especially like the rhythmic drive in the Rainey brothers' recording of the second reel.
